Who Cares...
- Identifying a need - small funding bid,
This line of enquiry explores the experiences of
non-professionals who care for people with dementia. Much of the literature relating to dementia
that is available to carers places its emphasis on the communication difficulties
faced by the individual requiring the care.
However little attention has been paid to how carers articulate their
own experience.
With a background in design we are used to
translating issues into actual, communicable solutions. Through interviews and/
or workshops the initial enquiry will adopt a conceptual approach to create
artefacts, textual, 2D or 3D, to articulate carers' experiences and
expectations. The intention is to exhibit the artefacts, ideally in contrast
with the nearest commercial comparators, in order to elicit responses and drive
future research.
